Fastest way is to fly from Bogota to Pitalito either with Satena or Clic airlines. There are daily flights, subject to weather conditions.
If you stay in San Agustin or another town you can use the bus service or contract a private taxi (let us know if you need help with that).
Alternatively you can take public transport from anywhere in Colombia, just be ready to sit in the bus for a while.

The most touristic place in South Huila is San Agustin. It offers many hotels and lodges in town or just out in the nearby mountains.
Another option is Pitalito, Huila's second biggest town after its capital Neiva. This is where the airport is. Many accommodation options here too.
We don't offer accommodation but will be happy to give our recommandations if needed.

Colombia has changed a lot since the 2016 peace agreement. You can now travel to most places safely, always following the universal safety precautions.
It is a reality that there are still some corners of the country controlled by armed groups, but they are well identified by the population and away from urban areas or touristic attractions. Always ask a local for advice to make sure you are not venturing into red flagged areas.
Tourism is a key priority for the current government. Road infrastructure is improving, national flight schedules are expanding, and tourism organizations are thriving. It's time to visit before it gets too popular!

To get a good grasp of the region we would recommend at least 3-4 days. Remember you will travel up and down the Andes, it takes a while to go from A to B because of the topography of the region, so traveling can be long and tiring. Also flights usually land or leave Pitalito around midday, so the days you travel may not be available for activities.
Of course the more you can stay the better !

We do not provide travel insurance, Please make sure you have one when visiting Colombia. If you need medical attention while on a trip with us we will take drive you to the nearest medical centre, likely in Pitalito.
