Suaza is a town but also a river whose valley is home to the iraca palm tree. Using the young buds of the iraca, the people of Suaza have developed the craft of handwoven hats, known for their finesse and elasticity- and recognized nationwide.
The Suaza craft is one of Huila’s protected appellations of origin since 2015.
